Welcome to Noves SL, Journal on Sociolinguistics, the electronic
review of the Language Policy Secretariat devoted to sociolinguistics and
related topics. The journal is mainly addressed to experts and to those involved in
agencies dealing with language policies, and is aimed to disseminate knowledge, to
strengthen the implementation of research and to easy the communication among its readers.
Insofar as Noves
SL is a journal published from Catalonia but with a clear willingness of opening and
pluralism, we offer you a bilingual version (Catalan/English) although we also publish the
papers in their original version. Furthermore we also want to stress this will of opening
and pluralism in the articles which will appear on a periodical basis.
The journal aims to deal with questions involving the future and the maintenance of languages within the new framework of the 21st Century: the analysis of the role of new migrations in the Catalan, European and world society; the impact of new technologies in the processes of shift/promotion of languages; the elaboration of new methods of analysis and research, as well as the implementation of sectorial or specific studies.
In the archives you will find the articles published in former editions of Noves SL.

Submission of papers
1. Adaptation of the articles to
e-publication
Noves
SL, Revista de Sociolingüística, is the on-line specialized journal of the
Directorate General of Language Policy of the Government of Catalonia, which deals with
sociolinguistics and related topics. Noves SL is well-known for the continuous update and
the quality of the published articles, as well as for a dynamic system of information and
expertise exchange between scholars.
Taking into
account the electronic format of the journal, the authors should take advantage at the
maximum of the resources granted by this media when writing their articles (images,
graphs, links...). The Editorial Board of Noves SL will positively judge these
issues previous to the approval of the proposals of articles.
2. Languages
of submission
Noves SL will
publish the articles in the original language used in the submitted text, even though the
possible technical difficulties this might bring.
There will be
furthermore always also a version in Catalan, as it is the official language of the
institution which funds the publication and provides for technical assistance, and in
English as it is the most widespread language of scientific communication and
dissemination.
Finally, the proposals of articles written in
other languages than Catalan, Spanish, English or French should be submitted with a
translation in any of the aforementioned languages.
3. Length
From 20,000 up
to 25,000 characters in Word.
Note: Authors
should structure their text in rather short paragraphs and not to submit a too long title.
4. Graphs
Graphs will be
submitted in Excel format, and enclosed in a separate document from the main text.
5. Images
Images will be
submitted in a separate document from the main text, in JPG and/or GIF formats. |
